A ducted system delivers air to the rooms through ducts in the false ceiling. Only the supply and return grilles remain in view, with no units on the walls.
When a ducted system makes sense
It suits anyone renovating or building who can lower the ceiling in a hallway, a lobby or a bathroom. The indoor unit hides there, and the ducts run from there to the rooms. For the interior it is the cleanest result: no units on the walls, just slim grilles flush with the ceiling.
Air comes out at several points and at low speed, so the temperature is more even and there are no draughts aimed at the bed or the desk. That is why ducted systems are popular in offices, medical practices and shops, where a wall unit would look out of place or blow on customers.
It does need planning early. Before the false ceiling is closed, duct routes, grille positions, the condensate drain and an access hatch for filter cleaning must be decided. So we like to get on site early and coordinate with the builder and the electrician.

Questions about this service
How much space is needed in the false ceiling?
It depends on the model and the airflow. The slimmest ducted units fit in a shallow drop ceiling. At the survey we measure the heights available and tell you where it is best to lower the ceiling.
Can a ducted system go into a finished home?
Yes, if there is a room where a false ceiling can be added, such as the hallway or bathroom, and a route for the ducts to the rooms. In a lived-in home a multi-split is often the simpler option.
Does a ducted system use more power than a split?
Not necessarily. A well-sized system with short, insulated ducts and zone control uses about as much as several wall units. Design and installation quality matter most.
